Senior Editor
Senior, Class of 2017

This is my second year as Senior Editor, and I could not be more ecstatic! We have so many new staff members and a lot of young minds ready to write for us. This is my last year at Silsbee High School, and I admit, in some ways I am going to miss this place-- especially this magazine. I have been so blessed these past four years. I have competed (and made) All Region Choir every year. I’ve advanced to State in Solo and Ensemble the past three years (hopefully I’ll make a fourth!) and have coached the Soprano 2 section at concert sight reading for three years. I am also involved in theatre, where I have competed in One Act twice, had a lead role in last year’s fall play, and acted in Spooky Stories and Kidwrites for the past two years. Academically, I have always challenged myself with advanced courses, pushing myself to the limit, and maintained a high GPA while participating in other extra-curriculars , including Key Club (editor), Drama Club (Secretary and Treasurer), Student Council (Senior Class treasurer), Captain of the JV tennis team (2 years), and many other activities. I am so excited to lead FOCUS on to new levels and enjoy my Senior year to its fullest!

Sophomore, Class of 2019

For those who are curious and have read the magazine from last year, yes, I am still 4’11 and ¾. I have somehow survived my first year of high school, and am now a sophomore. This year, I have not only continued my passions for soccer and dancing, but also decided to tackle Cross Country, which is surprising because I never thought I would ever be the type of person who enjoys running, but hey, God likes plot twists. Ballet and Pointe are my fortes, as far as dancing is concerned - trust me, I have not done hip hop since third grade when Scout Bebee and I danced to Thug Story by Taylor Swift. (Fun Fact: we can rap that entire song.) Anyways, I am a loud and proud Soprano 1 in Varsity Choir, and I actively attend the First United Methodist Church, where I am the Historian of Impact Youth Ministries. Writing is my passion because I am such an awkward person in real life and stumble over my words - a lot. Despite my awkwardness and confusion, writing gives me a sense of ‘grace’ and clarity, in hope that things will actually make sense. I hope to pursue, or at least incorporate, writing when I am older, and continue the hope of being an author.
Paula Boothman
Contest Director
Junior, Class of 2018
Heyo! I'm Paula, and I'm a junior. I love books and cats, but I also love tennis and running. When I graduate I hope to attend the United States Air Force Academy and earn a degree in physics. My favorite subjects are physics and band, and I'm working right now towards making state on clarinet! I play piano, clarinet, flute, and I also have the privilege of being a drum major. Most importantly, I love my friends and all the time I get to spend with them.

Sophomore, Class of 2019

Howdy! My name is Hannah, I am the Staff Writer and I am a sophomore. Other than Focus I am in the soccer team here at school. I have played since 2nd grade and I play defense. I am also in the SHS band. I have played the clarinet for the past 5 years. Outside of school, I take pictures at church for my youth group, and it's a great job to have at our church. My goal for the school year is to work hard for success! I wanted to join Focus because I wanted to join a club that I knew would be very friendly, as well as give me the opportunity to work on my writing skills.
Rachael Warren
Staff Writer
Freshman, Class of 2020

Hello my name is Rachael and I am 4’11 (probably the smallest freshman, but I don’t care!) Outside of Focus club, I am a rookie on the Silsbee Tigerettes and I actively attend Calvery Baptist Church by Walmart. I’m a Soprano 1 in the girls choir and I plan on trying out for Advanced Choir next year! My goal for the year is to make it through freshman year without dying (thankfully i made it through my first day) and having a good first year of high school. My reason for joining Focus Club is because I love meeting new people and just talking in general.

Staff Writer
Senior, Class of 2017

Hello there! My name is Jeremiah. I joined Focus this year because I wanted to be part of a club that connects the staff of SHS with the students they teach. Outside of Focus, I am also in Key Club. My goal this year is to make it through without any problems and to make it as memorable as possible.

Raina Harmon
Staff Artist
Freshman, Class of 2020

I’m Raina, and I moved to Silsbee six years ago, and it’s the best thing that’s happened to me! I enjoy writing and creating art, so Focus was perfect! I love my family, friends, dog, art, school, and Focus!
Sara Page
Staff Writer

What goes on friends? I’m Sara, (Beta, depending on who you are), and I’m a lil’ fish, (literally, since we’re putting heights here, I’m 4’11) Anyways, I’m big on writing poetry, short story fiction, and impromptu essays, and I have been since I was in 4th grade! I’m active in Student Council; Freshman Class Representative, FCCLA, AVID, and ECHS. I’m really excited to be in Focus this year and hopefully for the the next three years as well, as my older sister was! I plan to do not only questionnaires, but essays and perhaps even poetry throughout the 2016-2017 year!
