Downtown Silsbee: Tiger Prowl
The Tiger Prowl is an event that occurs in Downtown Silsbee. It starts after the Homecoming parade at 11:30 a.m. and lasts until 5:00 p.m. The Tiger Prowl includes Wiener dog races, pet costume contest, and class reunions.
There will be mini-class reunions for graduating alumni ranging from 1956 to 2008. This allows classmates to reconnect and relive old memories. There is a registration form on the Downtown Silsbee website where you can sign up to reserve a spot for your class..
For the Wiener dog races, the dogs are entered into three categories. Group 1 is up to 3 years old, group 2 is 3-6 years old, group 3 is veterans over 6 years old. Each group will race against each other and the winning wieners will compete for Best Wienie, there will be ribbons and treats for your dogs.. Sign your puppy up here!
The Pet costume contest consists of 4 categories. The first category is “Funniest Costume,” where you may just “split a gut” laughing from these silly looks! The second category is “Most Creative Costume,” or the “OMG I would have never thought of that!” category. The third category is “Tiger Pride Costume.” To win, your pet costume must be filled with Silsbee School Spirit! For the last category there’s the “Best Costume Overall,” which is the best of the best.There are rules you need to know before registering your pet of into the contest. You can check that out on the Downtown Silsbee website. There are 1st and 2nd place prizes for each category and one for the overall winner, all entrants get a goodie bag and a participation ribbon.
Tiger Prowl is quickly becoming a new tradition of Homecoming, where alumni can come home, not just for a game, but also back to the community they grew up in. A stroll down main street allows them to relive some of their favorite memories and spark old and new friendships from the best years of their lives. They also join in with the current Seniors for the thrills of Friday night lights and all the festivities that surround the homecoming game, such as the bonfire and parade. Having the Tiger Prowl allows community members to experience a variety of ways to come together as a town, and a family, and enjoy all Silsbee has to offer.
