  • What made you decide on becoming a Tiger Keeper?

  • During the beginning of my sophomore year, my cousin asked me to join her as a Tiger Keeper, so I did and it was the best decision. Friday nights are the highlight of my week.

  • Are there any traditions before or after games you do with your fellow Tiger Keepers?

  • There’s not really any traditions that we do besides taking care of the tiger.

  • What are some of the main things you do as a Tiger Keeper?

  • Specifically my job is to kind of organize everything that goes along with being a Tiger Keeper. Our Tiger statue is like my baby and I make sure he is taken care of and I also run the flags and help set up the tunnel.

  • What are some of your favorite things about being a Tiger Keeper?

  • Definitely my favorite thing is cheering on my tigers. I love being at the games and running flags.

  • Are there any qualifications of being a Tiger Keeper?

  • Previously to be a Tiger Keeper you had to be a member of either Key Club or Student Council. However, this year we opened it up to all students and selected members by an application process.

  • What is the process of taking the tiger places?

  • Well our tiger sits on a trailer that we have to load onto a bigger trailer that we bring to every game and then unload and set him on the 25 yard line facing the field so he is ready to cheer on our football boys.

  • Do you have to practice running to get in shape for running the flags?

  • Not really.

  • Can you letter in being a Tiger Keeper?

  • No you cannot letter in Tiger Keepers.

  • What do you think you provide the crowd at football games? (do you give the crowd more spirit?)

  • I think I give the crowd entertainment because of my running. And just a lot of spirit.

  • Has there been any thought on changing the types of flags?

  • Yes I actually took on getting new flags for us this year. We finally got rid of our old heavy flags and got very nice flags to run this year!!

  • What made you decide on becoming a Tiger Keeper?

  • Growing up going to my brother's football games, I would see the Tiger Keepers set up the tunnel and run the flags, and I thought it was awesome that they got to be part of the action.

  • Are there any traditions before or after games you do with your fellow Tiger Keepers?

  • Look around at each other and see who is going to make the first initiative to put up the Tiger tunnel.😂

  • What are some of the main things you do as a Tiger Keeper?

  • We set up the tunnel and run the SHS flags when we get a touchdown.

  • What are some of your favorite things about being a Tiger Keeper?

  • I love being close to the field and being able to see all of the action.

  • Are there any qualifications of being a Tiger Keeper?

  • You must have passion to bring school spirit to the community.

  • What is the process of taking the tiger places?

  • Everyone has to help out to put the Tiger in the trailer, and it takes everyone because that thing is heavy.

  • Do you have to practice running to get in shape for running the flags?

  • Luckily, I run Cross Country, so I get to practice for both.

  • Can you letter in being a Tiger Keeper?

  • I don't believe so because it doesn't have any athletic involvement besides running the flags, and we don't practice that as a team, but I'm sure you could always get a patch for it.

  • What do you think you provide the crowd at football games? (do you give the crowd more spirit?

  • For those who don't 100% understand football, we let them know when to cheer for the touchdowns.

  • Has there been any thought on changing the types of flags?

  • I don't think so, but if they do, I hope they make the Tiger Head one not so tall and heavy because I can't run with that one.😂

  • What made you decide on becoming a Tiger Keeper?

  • I wanted to be more involved in my school.

  • Are there any traditions before or after games you do with your fellow Tiger Keepers?

  • Sometimes before a home game a couple of people will go eat or paint each others faces.

  • What are some of the main things you do as a Tiger Keeper?

  • Blow up/ take down the tunnel, transport the tiger to all of the games, blow the horn for touchdowns, prepare the smoke machine, and run flags.

  • What are some of your favorite things about being a Tiger Keeper?

  • Going to all of the games and supporting the team and our school and community.

  • Can you letter in being a Tiger Keeper?

  • Not that I know of.

  • What do you think you provide the crowd at football games? (do you give the crowd more spirit?)

  • I definitely try to sometimes, but my voice is not very loud so it is hard. In my opinion, having a designated “spirit leader” would be a great idea!

  • Has there been any thought on changing the types of flags?

  • Not that I know of. We just got new, double-sided flags and they are very nice so I think we are just going to keep those.
