What were your motives to audition for the Tigerettes?
My sister was a Tigerette and always seemed to have tons of fun. I also liked the idea of such a close group of girls, especially since I knew most of them beforehand.
How did you feel when you made Tigerettes?
I had that initial moment of shock, of course, but I was also just relieved that the tryout process was over and that I could finally tell people I made it and stop stressing out over it.
Did you have any prior dance experience when you tried out?
Do two weeks of a hip hop class in second grade count?
Were you a part of Silsbee Middle School Drill Team/Dance Team?
No. The first year it was taken away was the first year I would've been eligible for it. I don't think I've ever ranted harder to a teacher than I did when I found out it was gone.
What is your favorite genre or style of dance that Tigerettes participate in? Why?
Hardest. Question. Ever. There are really two completely different sides of our dancing- drill team and general dancing- but I'd say my favorite would still have to be military, because I feel like I'm at my best doing military. It's sharp and precise and I feel like it's the most visually pleasing.
What’s your favorite routine? Why?
My favorite routine is EASILY our military routine to Batmobile Chase, for more than one reason. It's my favorite genre of dance, it's traditional, it looks by far the best, and the band hates playing the song. All but one of my band friends has told me how much they hate it every single time they play it.
What is your favorite part of being on Tigerettes?
Clearly, I enjoy the dancing and all of the opportunities I get with HTE and the team alone, but my favorite part would have to be the group of girls I have the pleasure of sharing it with. I appreciate every single one of them as a friend and would do anything for them.
How do you prepare before you perform?
We do team circle, pray as a team, and sing our song/chant thing.
How do you feel under the Friday Night Lights?
I feel pretty excited, even being able to make eye contact with some people, but it's honestly pretty hot under those lights.
Who on the team, adult or not, has impacted your life? (Remember, once a Tigerette, always a Tigerette.)
SARAH FISHER. She is every goal of mine. Her technique is literally perfect, she's gorgeous, and she's polite. She was one of the few people who made kick academy as an underclassman, though, which I can check off my list of goals. Still working towards Sarah Fisher!
