Aunt Mary
I awoke, startled, to the perilous screams down the hall. Remembering the events of yesterday I began to laugh uncontrollably when my brother burst into my room. Frightened I let out a yell sending both of into another fit of laughter. My brother and I had a talent for scaring Aunt Mary whenever she came down and yesterday she gave us the perfect idea to scare her. We were at our annual family Halloween Bash telling scary stories and like always, Aunt Mary always has the best. So this year, Will, my brother, and I decided to use her own story against her and to our advantage. Her story begins like this, long ago a group of teenagers decided to explore the town’s “haunted mansion” and see if the rumors about the pantry ghost were true. The story goes along and as they approach the last room of the house where it is said the owner’s daughter’s ghost still lives; they hear a strange noise coming from the kitchen. Scared, the group raced downstairs to see what caused the noise. The noise was coming from inside the pantry so one of the girls opened it to find a body bag, which was obviously occupied, and a transparent female figure hovering over it covered in blood stains. Chilled to the bone, the group screamed as they ran to their vehicles to escape. Unfortunately for the girl, the ghost caught her and she was never seen again. The End. Well not officially, but after hearing this, Will and I devised a plan. We knew Aunt Mary got up every night without fail for a midnight snack. Our plan was simple: stuff a black garbage bag full to look like a dead body and then have Will hide in the pantry with fake blood stains until she came for a snack. What we didn’t know was we were in the very “haunted mansion” from her story and although our plan worked brilliantly, it had one flaw. We can’t find Aunt Mary. Anywhere.

The Little Girl
It all started on a Saturday Night. My parents were out at dinner, leaving me by myself. Everything was fine, I ordered pizza, watched a movie and was starting my second movie when I heard the bathroom door close. I froze; I didn’t know what to do. I called my parents and they said they would send over the neighbors to check it out. When the neighbors got there, there was nothing there. So they went home and my parents were soon home. The next day after church my mom saw a figure by the bathroom. My dad didn’t believe her, but my mom and I knew something was up. A week went by and nothing happened. The next Friday night, my mom and I were out shopping when my dad saw the figure too. It was just a little girl standing there by the bathroom, it never moved, it just stood there. We eventually named her and became less afraid of her as the months went on. Until one day my mom was in her bedroom doing her makeup when the little girl showed up behind her with a knife. The little girl wa no longer nice; she had the most evil look on her face and was trying to kill my mom. My mom screamed and ran out of the house. That moment we knew we had to leave. We heard that if you kept a Bible open that the demons wouldn’t come. From that moment on, a Bible was open in our house. We found a new house and we left the Bible there until the last box was moved. As we took out last box out, my mom kept the Bible in her hands and closed the door. As we were getting into the car we could see the blinds open and they eyes of the little girl peek out. Never again did we step foot into that house.

Spooky Story
Listening to your friends telling frightening stories
About eerie ghosts
Bloodthirsty monsters
And horrifying demons
Chills are sent down your spine
As you sit anxiously
On the edge of your seat
Waiting for the nightmarish tale to end…
*
Walking through your dark and deserted home
Hearing creepy noises in the dead silence
You tell yourself “It’s just the house settling”
Thinking back on the horror stories
Feeling troubled
Believing it could be a mythical being
Patrolling your “safe haven”
Fear begins to take over…
*
You feel petrified thinking of what to do
The scary story is messing with your head
Sprinting to your room
Slamming the door
Hiding under the covers
Listening for the monster
It seems like hours
Waiting to hear the footsteps again…
*
You hear them again
The rustling of a sinister figure
The footsteps…
They’re--stalking you…
They’re--coming closer…
and closer…
and closer…
It’s here.

OH MOTHER
There once was a mother
Who lost her lover
And all she had was a child
Despite her care
And the life she shared
The mother grew wild
As the child screamed
The mother schemed
The child could live no longer
It was a reminder
Of who wasn’t beside her
The demons she couldn’t conquer
On a cold, dark night
With an absence of light
And snow falling heavily down
The baby awoke
The mother broke
And threw the baby on the ground
The child froze
The ghost arose
The mother decided to die
Back inside
She took her life
And there the bodies lie
